THE TIMELESS PORTRAIT
Many things in art repeat themselves, often because they are natural. This elegant and self-confident pose is often seen in fashion magazines, yet it’s been seen in the painted portrait for a few centuries. Victorian romantics, French impressionists, and 17th century court painting have used this pose.
Here, I have updated the feel to be more modern with lighting and chosen the clothing to create a more graphic design within the image. This calls for an attentive and studied response from the subject – already present.
